Photochromic prescription eyewear

All the models of prescription eyewear featured here have polycarbonate light reacting lenses (photochromic) that provide 100% UV protection from harmful sun’s rays.

The tint of Dixon photochromic lenses changes from nearly clear (95% light transmission) to dark (20% light transmission) depending on the light levels.

A new category 4 light reacting lens is also available with the Dixon RX TAC-3 and Glacier glasses that goes as dark as 6% light transmission at +10 C, making it ideal for expeditions to snowy and glacial landscapes.

Photochromic lenses react to a combination of visible and UV light, darkening automatically in bright sunlight. The darkness of the tint is also affected by temperature (going darker in colder conditions).

Photochomic lenses are a versatile choice for sports in variable light conditions throughout the year. They are a popular option for cyclists, bikers wearing open face helmets and kit car drivers. Photochromic lenses will not react if you are behind a windscreen or wearing a polycarbonate helmet visor, as these barriers will prevent the majority of UV light from penetrating.
